Transcript
Ruby: (The title card appears.) Max's Breakfast.
(The episode starts at the radio.)
The radio: (singing) Start your day in a healthy way,
Egg, egg, egg.
Start your day in a healthy way,
Egg, egg, egg.
Ruby: (She is sitting at the table, eating an egg.) Yum! That egg was good. (She drinks her orange juice.) Max! (The scene goes to Max, sleeping.) It's time for breakfast! (Max wakes up, looking tired. Reluctantly, he gets out of bed. The scene goes back to Ruby, with a bowl of strawberries.) Strawberries are perfect after an egg. (Ruby eats a strawberry.) Mmm! Delicious! (A closeup of the strawberries. Max is seen, looking tired.) Good morning, Max. I have something very special for your breakfast today. (Max sits down. But he lightens up.)
Max: Berry.
(He reaches for the strawberries, but Ruby stops him.)
Ruby: No, Max. I wasn't talking about strawberries. You're going to like this breakfast. (She puts on Max's bib.) Maybe even better than strawberries. (She leaves the room.) Are you ready, Max?
Max: Mmm-hmm. (He nods his head.)
Ruby: (She comes in, bringing an egg on a plate.) Here it is! One organic egg. Sunny-side-up.
Max: (A close-up of the egg is seen. He does not like sunny side up eggs. So he pushes the plate away.) Bad egg.
Ruby: No, good egg. (She pushes the plate back to Max.) Try it, you'll like it. (She sits down.)
Max: Bad egg.
Ruby: I think I'll have one more strawberry, while I wait for you to try that egg. (Ruby eats a strawberry.) Mmm.
(Max looks at the egg. Then, he looks at the strawberries. A close-up of them can be seen. Then, he reaches for them, but Ruby stops him.)
Max: Berries! (Unworded error)
Ruby: No strawberries until that egg goes down, Max.
Max: (He looks at the egg.) Bad egg. (He looks at the strawberries. Another close-up of the berries can be seen. He grabs the bowl & takes a strawberry from it. He tries to put it in his mouth, but Ruby snatches it from him.)
Ruby: No berries yet, not until the egg is all gone. (She goes over to the bread. She takes two slices of bread & puts them in the toaster. Max keeps looking at the egg. Then, he touches it. He likes it and wiggles it on his plate. She sees Max playing with it. She gasps.) Max, no! (Max --playing with his egg-- tries to slide his egg off the plate, but she catches it just in time as she gasps. She looks at Max with a stern face. He smirks.) You're not supposed to play with your egg, you're supposed to eat it. (She hands Max a spoon.) Here's your spoon. Take a bite. (He looks at the egg with a mad face.)
Max: Bad egg. (He smirks & throws his spoon.)
Ruby: Eggs are good for you. (She gets Max's spoon. Max has put a napkin over his plate. She sees it.) I know it's under there. (She pulls off the napkin.) Just eat the egg, Max.
Max: Berry. (He reaches for the bowl of berries, but Ruby stops him.)
Ruby: Uh-uh-uh! No berries until the egg is all gone. (She gives Max his spoon. The bread has popped out of the toaster.) When I come back, I don't want to see that egg on your plate, alright? (She walks to the toaster. Max smirks.) Eggs are filled with vitamins and minerals, and other things that make bunnies grow big and strong. (As she is saying this, she puts butter on her toast.) Once you try an egg, you'll want one for breakfast everyday. (Max has flipped his plate over. She comes back with toast. She sees the plate.) Hmm. (She lifts the plate. The egg is on the table.) I thought so. Max.
Max: Bad egg.
Ruby: (She sighs. She puts the egg back on the plate.) Come on, Max, it's time to eat the egg. (Max throws his bib.) Oops! I'll get it. Trust me, Max, you're going to love that egg. (Max smirks & slides his egg on the chair. She gets his bib.) It's yummy. (She sees Max without the egg on the plate.) Max! You ate the egg! Wasn't it good?
Max: Berry? (He reaches for the strawberries.)
Ruby: Yes, Max. (She puts Max's bib on.) You can have the berries now that the egg is all gone. (She notices the egg on the chair.) Wait a second. What's that? Max? (She puts the egg back on the plate.) You can't hide your egg, you've got to eat it.
Max: Bad egg.
(Ruby sighs.)
Ruby: Okay, Max.
(Then she gets another idea of how to get Max to eat the egg.)
Ruby: I guess the only way I'm gonna get you to eat that egg is if I feed it to you myself. You'll be surprised when you taste this, Max.
(She puts spoonful of egg on the spoon trying to get Max to eat the egg. Then she notices that Max is gone.)
Ruby: Max!
(Max is hiding under the table trying to avoid eating his egg.)
Ruby: Where did you go? Max, come back!
(She sees Max's tail. She lifts the tablecloth.)
Ruby: You can't hide from your egg, Max.
(She carries Max back to his chair. She puts the plate near Max.)
Max: Bad egg.
Ruby: Good egg.
(She puts a spoonful of egg on his spoon.)
Ruby: Come on, Max, just give it a try.
Max: Mm-mm.
(Max rejects it. That is, trying to avoid Ruby putting the egg into his mouth. Ruby tries again. He sees the egg.)
Max: Mm-mm!
(He rejects it again.)
Ruby: Max. Please? There's nothing to be afraid of. Open wide. Good egg.
Max: Bad egg.
Ruby: It's so yummy, look, I'll show you. (She eats a bite of it.) Mmm-mmm-mmm! Was that ever yummy. I want more. (She eats another bite of it.) Mmm! That was even better. See? Good egg.
Max: Bad egg.
Ruby: (She eats the last bite of it.) Yummy, yummy, egg. Mmm!
Max: All gone. (Ruby notices she ate the egg.) Berry. (He reaches for the berries. He eats one as the episode ends.)
